Celebrating 60: The Agnes in Six Decades

For the Agnes Etherington Art Centre’s 60th anniversary, we reflect on our past through this virtual exhibition and online resource. Herein, landmark exhibitions and programs, significant acquisitions, inspirational people and major building expansions unfold by decade, showcasing our dynamic history. Celebrating 60 traces the Agnes’s contributions to the community, as our founder’s house became the vibrant art museum and cultural hub that it is today. This is a living document, to be enhanced and expanded over time to reflect new research and future achievements.

Chronological listings of the Agnes’s exhibitions and publications can also be found on our website.

Celebrating 60: The Agnes in Six Decades has been compiled by Chief Curator/Curator of Canadian Historical Art Alicia Boutilier, Curatorial Research Assistant Sarah Dougherty, and Public Programs Manager Pat Sullivan, with assistance from Sarah Dalglish, Public Programs volunteer.
