Frances K. Smith Lecture in Canadian Art with Bruce Kuwabara: Catalyzing Change

We welcome the inimitable Bruce Kuwabara to give our 2025 Frances K. Smith Lecture in Canadian Art.

A founding partner of KPMB Architects and lead architect on Agnes Reimagined, Bruce Kuwabara presents several recent projects that explore themes of art and community and the insights gained while working on Agnes Reimagined, our special new home. The talk is followed by a public reception.

Open Secret x Prismatic Ground

Agnes’s Open Secret is back with a Third Edition! Open Secret x Prismatic Ground presents a program of short works by five filmmakers exploring the gaps in their relationships to ancestral homelands. Join us to experience the work of  Samy BenammarRazan AlSalahMiryam CharlesLindsay McIntyre and Daphne Xu.

We are thrilled to welcome guest curator Inney Prakash, Artistic Director of the NYC-based film festival Prismatic Ground to Kingston for a Q&A after the screening.

Join us on 3 April  @ 2:30 pm for an afternoon with Cowley Abbott Canada’s Art Auctioneers. Free art valuations by experts Anna Holmes and Perry Tung are followed by a reception and lecture on the Canadian art and auctioneering world from owner and partner, Rob Cowley.

The Studio x Open Secret: Tatreez and Stories with Baraa Abuzayed

26 March @ 5 pm

Join artist Baraa Abuzayed for a hands-on workshop introducing tatreez, traditional Palestinian embroidery. In this session participants learn about the foundational motifs and techniques of tatreez (cross-stitch).

Abuzayed presents the historical meaning behind these designs which reflect deep connections to land and nature, while teaching basic embroidery stitches. All materials are provided and no prior embroidery experience is necessary.
