This Week at Agnes

AGNES Off-site

Transformation complete!

Our on campus, off-site space is officially open.

Iman Datoo’s Kinnomics is now installed in our new exhibition space at our temporary home at 207 Stuart Street! Please join us for the exhibition opening Friday, 6 June, 5:30–7:30 pm. It’s free and everyone is welcome!

Datoo’s exhibition emerges out of research undertaken over the last month at Queen’s University Biological Station (QUBS) as Agnes’s annual Stonecroft Artist-in-Residence. Living and working at QUBS, on the shores of Lake Opinicon, Datoo looks at connections across ecological and cultural systems—notably how elements from one environment (like the potato) can find resonance or “kinship” in another. The concept of “kinnomics”—coined by Datoo—guides her practice.

Aerosol Art 101: An Introduction to Spray Paint with EronOne

27–29 June 2025

Those who live in Kingston know the work of EronOne: Daft Brewery’s interiors, rich with pop culture references, Pizza Monster’s vibrant public mural and Chartreuse Flowers’ floral mural which can be seen as one cruises along Division Street.

EronOne is also one of the graffiti artists behind Agnes’s monumental 2022 artwork Transformations, the beloved graffiti project which covered Agnes’s former facades.

In June, EronOne delivers another session of Aerosol Art 101: An Introduction to Spray Paint. Participants develop their sketchbook designs through safe and effective spray-painting methods to bring their vision to life. The workshop culminates in the creation of a collaborative public mural at Doug Fluhrer Park. No prior experience is necessary, and all supplies are included!

Aerosol Art 101 takes place at EronOne’s studio Wherehouse

Aerosol Art 101 is for teen participants. Register now to secure your spot! Bursary applications are available.

Creative Futures for Teens!

Professional development for youth

Are you or do you know a young  visual artist eager to take their creativity to the next level? Creative Futures is back for a second year, offering a unique opportunity for teens to explore their artistic voice, grow their skills, and connect with a community of like-minded peers.

Through monthly, hands-on workshops led by artists and arts professionals, participants will:

  • gain invaluable insights into the art world
  • learn how to document and present their work
  • write an artist statement
  • experiment with diverse methods of artmaking
  • curate a final group exhibition in spring 2026.

This year-long journey is co-facilitated by the Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre, and the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning

Apply by 15 June 2025!

Agnes’s new program series for teens (including Creative Futures and Aerosol Art 101) were kick started with seed funding from Davies Charitable Foundation.
