Are you fascinated by the world of art auctions? Have you ever wondered how the Canadian art market works?

We’re thrilled to welcome partner, owner and founder of Cowley Abbott, Rob Cowley for a lecture on art auctions in Canada. The talk covers the history of Cowley Abbott and stories of rare and high value artworks that have been sold at auction.

Do you have an artwork or object that you’d like to learn more about? The lecture is preceded by free art valuations from Cowley Abbott experts Anna Holmes and Perry Tung. Participants can register for 15 minute sessions to learn what their object could fetch at auction if sold today. Space is limited, so register to save your spot.

Koerner Lecture with Marigold Santos

You’re invited into the world of multi-disciplinary artist Marigold Santos. A painter, sculptor and tattoo artist, Santos is known for blending themes of diaspora, identity and motherwork. As the 2025 Koerner Artist-in-Residence, Santos delivers an artist talk entitled Fragments Gathered; on diaspora, motherwork, and gaiety within the work of Marigold Santos.

The Studio: Transforming Spaces: Intro to Murals with Katika Marczell

24 May 2025 @ 1:30–4:30 pm

Join artist Katika Marczell to learn about the tools, techniques, and creative processes involved in mural-making!

Participants in this workshop gain hands-on experience in the initial stages of mural creation and build skills particular to the medium including various methods for scaling images to fit larger surfaces.

Katika Marczell (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist and muralist based in Tkaronto/Toronto. She holds a BA from the University of Toronto and an MFA from York University. Marczell has shown in Toronto, Milton, Montreal, Markham and Peterborough.

Sculpting the Portrait with Nicholas Crombach

Wednesdays 2 April - 14 May 2025 6:00–9:00 pm

Explore the art of clay sculpting in this intensive, 7-week course with artist Nicholas Crombach. While creating a life-sized sculpture of a head, participants will learn essential techniques, including building an armature, sculpting from observation and preparing their work for firing.

Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this class offers an exciting journey into the sculpting process!

Nicholas Crombach is a Kingston-based, internationally recognized sculptor. Nicholas has had solo shows in Canada, London and Berlin and his sculptures exist as public art installations in Woodstock, Niagara Falls and Kingston.
