Agnes Off-Site Transformation: Rideau Garages
How to build an exhibition space!
HOORAY! Just a few more days until our brand-new Rideau Building exhibition space is open to the public! Earlier this month, we were finally handed the keys to a special garage we have been dreaming about inhabiting for over a year. Located on the ground floor of the Rideau Building on Queen’s University campus, this space was previously home to the Tri-Colour Outlet. Transforming a retail store to an art gallery space takes time, planning and a lot of elbow grease!
Agnes’s team are still hard at work in preparation for our impressive roster of exhibitions opening in the coming months. Up first is Iman Datoo’s Kinnomics (more on that below).
Watch this space in our next newsletter to see the after photos!

Exhibition
Opens 30 May 2025
Iman Datoo’s Kinnomics opens on 30 May 2025 at our temporary exhibition space at the Rideau Building (207 Stuart Street). Datoo is this year’s Stonecroft Artist-in-Residence and through a partnership with Queen’s Biological Station (QUBS), Datoo is exploring natural kinships which span geographies, species and ecologies while living and working on the shores of Lake Opinicon at QUBS.
Kinnomics is presented via a partnership with FOLDA (Festival of Live Digital Art). Originating in Kingston, FOLDA is an internationally recognized celebration focusing on digital art and live performance. Datoo’s fusion of digital claymation, augmented reality and sound installation melds perfectly with the ethos and mission of FOLDA.
Kinnomics runs 30 May–19 June, 2025. FOLDA’s eighth season runs 4–7 June, 2025.

Digital Agnes
Season 3 Episode 4 out now!
On this month’s episode of With Opened Mouths, Jill Glatt speaks to Qanita Lilla about her large textile pieces informed by local ecologies, community and sustainability. Her practice emphasizes the pathways and airways that both seeds and people navigate before they settle. Jill’s work weaves storytelling and botanical dyes together to bring the outside world into museum spaces.
