Collaborative Talk: Two Perspectives on Agnes Etherington’s Fashion

Join us for two fascinating perspectives on Artful Dressing: The Fashion of Agnes Etherington. Patricia Ewer, Textile Conservator, discusses the care of historic clothing and her research conducted at the Agnes. Carolyn Dowdell, curator of the exhibition, presents a talk on the historical background of these period garments. A visit to the exhibition follows the talks.

Patricia Ewer, based in Minnesota, was the Isabel Bader Research Fellow in Textile Conservation at the Agnes in 2013. She has held conservation positions at Historic Royal Palaces (U.K.), Midwest Art Conservation Center (Minneapolis, Minnesota), Biltmore House (Asheville, North Carolina), Textile Conservation Laboratory at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine (New York, New York), and The Textile Conservation Workshop (South Salem, New York). She is the co-editor with Frances Lennard of Textile Conservation: Advances in Practice (2010).Carolyn Dowdell is a doctoral student in Art History at Queen’s, specializing in the history of dress.
