HOTLINE Talk on World AIDS day

To mark World Aids Day, join Dr Santiago Perez Patrigeon for a walk-through of the exhibition Hotline: Posters from the Trellis HIV & Community Care Collection. In this casual forum, Dr Perez Patrigeon will talk about HIV-AIDS research, care and advocacy today. Dr Santiago Perez Patrigeon  is Chair of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Assistant Professor at Queen’s University. They trained in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and completed a PhD in Immunology at Institut Pasteur in Paris, France. From 2009 to 2019, they were a clinician-researcher at the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición in Mexico, where they directed the Immunopathogenesis Laboratory and led studies on HIV immune recovery, reservoir eradication, and biomarkers of viral control.

Dr. Perez has served on multiple scientific and advisory committees, including CORESAR (Mexico’s antiretroviral resistance committee), Ontario Health’s Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee, and as chair of scientific committees for national and international HIV conferences, including the Kingston HIV+STI Symposium. They have been an investigator in global HIV and emerging infectious disease trials, including INSIGHT, CATCO/SOLIDARITY, and ACTIV-2. Their ongoing work bridges clinical care, translational immunology, and international research collaborations aimed at advancing HIV cure strategies.
