Jatiwangi art Factory (JaF)

JaF is an artistic collective of over fifty multimedia artists, musicians, designers and curators who work out of a former clay tile factory in Jatisura, Indonesia. JaF’s artistic practice emphasizes local rural life in relation to land and the terracotta industry in the Jatiwangi District. Clay is central to all their artistic and cultural activities in the spirit of community empowerment. Their terracotta ensemble, Lair, includes composers Tedi Nurmanto, Andzar Agung Fauzan, Muhammad Pipin Kaspin, Kiki Permana, Ika Yuliana and Tamyiz Ramadhan.

Members’ Mondays

Enjoy a special members-only event and experience Agnes’s new 2022 exhibitions Chris Curreri: A Surrogate, A Proxy, A Stand-In, Tom Thomson? The Art of Authentication and the continuing exhibition Studies in Solitude: The Art of Depicting Seclusion.

KPMB Architects selected to realize Agnes Reimagined

Agnes Reimagined is a long-term, institutionally-engaged project, with architecture as its medium and the curatorial as its methodology. This makes our future home a proposition from which new museological practices emerge.

KPMB Architects was awarded the commission to realize Agnes Reimagined in an international call for design architects. Established in 1987, KPMB is an internationally recognized architectural practice based in Canada. Their wide-ranging work has earned over 400 respected awards, including 16 Governor General’s Medals, Canada’s highest honour. Read more!

Kingston Canadian Film Festival (KCFF)

KCFF is the largest festival in the world dedicated exclusively to Canadian film. Agnes is a community partner for STE ANNE, a feature debut by Manitoba artist and filmmaker Rhayne Vermette. The film succeeds first and foremost as a heartfelt tribute to the people and places of Vermette’s Métis community. Winner of the Best Canadian Feature prize and a Canada’s Top Ten selection at TIFF last fall. Get your tickets!

U-Flourish Art Hive

Calling all Queen’s undergraduate and graduate students! Agnes has partnered with Queen’s U-Flourish Digital Well-Being Resources on a special online Art Hive. Make time for yourself to recharge and get inspired. Experiment and play as you mindfully create. All levels of artistic experience are welcome. An Art Hive Kit with materials is available for collection at Agnes for all participants.
