Join artist Daniel Hughes for an enriching 8-week course exploring portrait and figurative drawing.
Participants will use graphite pencil, ink and charcoal in exercises of gesture, contour, outline and tonal modeling, while learning basic anatomical relationships and methods of drawing the human form. This course incorporates both figurative and portrait drawing, offering a well-rounded experience for artists of all skill levels. A live model will be present at every session to provide dynamic inspiration.
Please note that materials are not included.

Artist Biography

Daniel Hughes completed his undergraduate degree at OCAD University and pursued graduate studies at The New York Academy of Art. As a figurative painter, Hughes focuses on deconstructing traditional representational painting and drawing. His work has been exhibited across Canada and the U.S. in cities such as Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal, Los Angeles, New York City, Santa Fe, and Chicago. Additionally, he has held several solo exhibitions in London, UK. Previous teaching positions include: OCADU, Nipissing University, and The Toronto School of Art. Currently, Hughes is an adjunct assistant professor at Queens University and sessional instructor in Rome, Italy with theromeworkshops.com.
