Learn traditional Palestinian embroidery!

Join artist Baraa Abuzayed for a hands-on workshop introducing tatreez, traditional Palestinian embroidery. This session will introduce you to the foundational motifs and techniques of tatreez (cross-stitch).

Participants will discuss the meaning behind patterns and motifs that reflect deep connections to land  and nature.  All materials are provided and no prior embroidery experience is necessary.

The Studio is a place to meet innovative practicing artists from Kingston and across Canada, hear about their work and artistic practice and explore a creative project together. Open Secret is a series composed of screenings, conversations and workshops curated by Nasrin Himada, Associate Curator, Academic Outreach and Community Engagement.

This program is made possible through the Iva Speers Fund for Art Education, the George Taylor Richardson Memorial Fund, Queen’s University, the Ontario Arts Council and the City of Kingston Arts Fund.
