These objects are partially covered by a swath of drapery that twists around behind the satyress and bunches up in her lap. In the upper right-hand section of the circular support, the foliage of a forest setting has been summarily sketched in. Both mother and child gaze intently down to the lower left, indicating that this painting was likely designed to be placed in the upper right-hand corner of a wall or of a larger decorative ensemble.
