In the 1920s, Le Corbusier emerged as the most important architect of the “International Style” in France while continuing to produces works on paper and canvas. In this piece, two faces are framed by a rectangular window while the upper and lower halves of the composition are united by a vertically oriented fish-like shape. Le Corbusier saw his career as one full of failures. Later in life he would say, “life is right and the architect is wrong.”._
