The quilt is a friendship quilt composed of 30 squares arranged in six rows of five squares each; in each square is written a name. The names on the quilt indicate that it was made by a group of women living in the Elgin/Forfar area of Leeds County. Many of the women named on the quilt were related to the Poole and Rowswell families which had immigrated to the area from Somerset, England in the first half of the nineteenth century.
