Tobias, Sarah and the Angel Taking Leave of Raguel and Edna; No. 5 in a series of 6: The Story of Tobit Tobie, Sarah et l'ange prenant congé de Raguel et Edna; no 5 d'une série de 6 : Le livre de Tobie
around 1582 - 1585 v. 1582-1585

In this emotionally charged scene, Tobias, Sarah and Raphael depart from Ecbatana. The composition is divided diagonally from top left to bottom right. The atmosphere in the foreground is rather chaotic, as a large number of figures are crammed into a small space. On the left side, Edna says goodbye to her daughter and Raguel hugs his son-in-law one last time. Both departing figures, along with Raphael, who is pictured at the back, are mounted on camels. A half dozen servants ready the travelers for their journey, including a muscular man, situated near the lower right, who is loading luggage onto the back of Sarah’s camel. Behind the main characters, a group of men and animals has begun the voyage to Nineveh. One of the riders in the procession points toward a castle in the distance.
