Lievens, Jan (attributed to)
A Standing Woman in Profile, Facing Left Femme debout de profil, tournée vers la gauche
around 1670 v. 1670

Jan Andrea Lievens had just been born when his father Jan moved the family to Amsterdam, presumably counting on a richer market for art there. The son also became an artist, imitating his father closely, but with greater bravado and a looser handling of the brush. In this anonymous depiction of a woman in historical garb with an imposing profile view, he based his composition on a drawing by his father.
