Benediction
2014
This drawing by Gabrielle Kilian Sims is from a series of deeply personal works dealing with grief, entanglement and support. It depicts what is perhaps a moment of sexual intimacy mixed with intense anguish. The word "hold" is written on the back of the work and shows through the Mylar. With its roughly rendered charcoal figures and ink wash, Benediction evokes, perhaps, moments disintegration of the self and how we are held together by the support of loved ones.
