Gary Hume (from the Bootleg Series) Gary Hume (de la série Bootleg)
2006 2006

‘Gary Hume’ is a copy of Gary Hume’s ‘Begging for It’ (1994).
Doeringer creates what he calls “bootlegs,” which are copies of work by other well known artists. He sells these works on sidewalks and in parking lots – which puts them in a category more like the ilicit taping of bands by eager fans (and profiteers) rather than counterfeit works trying to pass themselves off as the real things. Doeringer uses a combination of collage and painting as well as other techniques to generate his knock-off artworks.
