Local artist Kim Ondaatje designed Jet Quilt for a touring exhibition on quilts, which she curated for the Agnes. It was Ondaatje’s hope that the exhibition, which travelled across Canada, would renew enthusiasm for patchwork quilting and preserve traditional patterns, which she regarded as closely allied to abstract art. With its stylized jet silhouettes and propeller profiles, creating almost Op Art-like effect, the Jet Quilt was intended to show how historical quilt design could incorporate late-twentieth-century imagery._
