The Angel strides vigorously ahead and points out the way to Tobias. They are heading past a cluster of buildings perched atop a rise, divided by a deeply worn road that runs beneath an arched passageway. This picturesque landscape is completed by a stream to the right and more buildings beyond. Rolling forms and sinuous lines announce the Mannerist style of Stevens, adopted at the court of Rudolph II in Prague. The buildings further reflect his Bohemian experience, in particular the round tower.
