Originally from Brampton, Ontario, Caroline Armington was a prolific graphic artist known for her refined etchings of architecture and picturesque scenes around France. Armington spent most of her life living and working in Paris but exhibited regularly in North America. She was commercially and critically successful and insisted on signing her full name to her etchings, boldly signaling her gender, despite the implications it may have had on the marketability of her work at the time. These four etchings depict places and buildings of note around central Paris, as they appeared in 1933. Completed only five years before her death, they demonstrate her mature style and a delicacy of line and perspective which made her work so popular.
