Youds, Robert
Myopia Model Modèle de myopie
1988 1988

In Myopia Model, Youds mimics the process whereby a photographic print dissolves into incomprehensible dots of colour when vastly enlarged, thus subverting the idea that we can understand an image better by looking at it more closely. Youds works with a strong awareness of the history of painting and has produced several series that challenge the medium’s norms and assumptions and, more largely, the limits of representation.

Born in Burnaby, BC, Youds has an MFA from York University. He is a member of the Fine Art faculty at the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC.
