On Stage I Sur scène I
2005 2005

“On Stage 1” is lush with intrigue as lowly lit characters stand in the shadows of a darkened stage. The work features a central figure of a man in a white tuxedo, brightly lit and enveloped in a spotlight on a stage. Four additional figures in black suits stand around him, lost in shadow. There is an impressive interplay of light and shado in the work. The sparse imagery creates a sense of the enigmatic, making it easy to invent a story surrounding each of his characters. All of the faces blur into the surroundings making it impossible to get a “positive ID”, contributing to the viewer’s sense of an unsolved mystery.
