Cheetham, Estelle
Quilted Tie Quilted Tie
1920s 1920s

Cheetham Green was a dressmaker. Her first shop was in Lyndhurst, Ontario, and she later opened one in Delta, Ontario. She married Robert Edward Green (1869-1951) from Delta on 24 February 1897. When they were courting in the late 1890s, she gave him the tie as a gift, (note that it incorporates a printed Lyndhurst fair ribbon). Similar to a crazy quilt in construction, it showcases her embroidery skills, likely with thread drawn from her thread case.
