Stephen Andrews’ 2013 portfolio series of 6 photographic waterless plate lithographs, Dissolve, draws on imagery from Black Star Collection photographs that Andrews studied at the Ryerson Image Centre. The prints feature imagery from iconic 20th-century events and are created from film stills or “frame grabs” of the dissolve transitions between photojournalist photograph images in Andrews’ film, Dramatis Personae, which was commissioned in 2012 by the Ryerson Image Centre.
