Bring your event to the Agnes

Centrally located in the heart of Queen’s University’s historic campus, the Agnes Etherington Art Centre offers a range of facility spaces that can be rented alone or together. Both contemporary and historical spaces feature excellent amenities and all public areas are accessible. The high ceilings, historical legacy and cultural sophistication of the Agnes, combined with the hospitality of our staff, make every event a special occasion.

Etherington House

A charming and elegant historical space, the neo-Georgian Etherington House has been restored to reflect the taste and period of Agnes Etherington, the gallery’s founder. The beautifully appointed rooms include artwork, antiques, period furnishings and a Steinway grand piano. Perfect for wine and cheese receptions, private dinners, cocktail parties and theme nights, the Etherington House offers five spaces: the Green Room, Drawing Room, Study, Music Room and Dining Room, a linked sequence of distinctive surroundings. Maximum capacity is 60 guests.

Atrium

The Atrium is the flagship space for events at the Agnes. This flexible hall is appropriate for meetings, seminars, special lectures, symposium workshops, presentations, award ceremonies, weddings, receptions, dinners, media events, book launches, screenings, cocktail parties and end-of-life celebrations. The room may be divided for privacy and/or small functions. The space is bright, contemporary and climate-controlled. An adjacent catering kitchen supports food service. The Atrium capacity is 185 with Licensed Dining and 196 with non-fixed chairs.

Studio

The André Biéler Studio is a generous and flexible studio space with the sinks, sturdy fixtures, wall-wide north-facing windows and black-out blinds ideal for group learning and creation. It offers a perfect environment for skills development workshops, birthday parties and creative seminars for up to 25 people, and seats 53 in a lecture format.

The David McTavish Art Study Room

Suitable for meetings, seminars, staff retreats, conference sessions or catered dinners, this new space adjacent to the Atrium is now available for rental. Dinner capacity 18; room capacity 40.

Extras

To ensure your event is successful, the following fixtures and access privileges are available:

  • Chairs (up to 100), with set up and take down at your direction
  • Podium with sound system and digital projector
  • Access to exhibitions: the gallery wing can be open for your guests.
  • Catering kitchen
  • Loading dock for ease of delivery

Terms

Space reservations require a booking fee payment. In addition to space rental fees, staffing and set-up charges may apply. Excepting Queen’s University departments, rental fees are subject to HST.

Cancellations of a space booking by the client must be made in writing to Kyle Holleran and must be received at least 45 days before the event start date. For bookings cancelled 45 days or more before the event date, remitted fees will be returned less a $200 administrative and lost opportunity charge. Cancellations after the 45-day advance deadline will relinquish remitted fees. Cancellations less than 48 hours before the event start date will be subject to an additional charge of $100.
