19 January Open Workshop with Walter Scott

In this crash course lead by Walter Scott (creator of the Wendy comics), learn three basic concepts to writing and drawing in a comic format: Complexity, Time & Space, and Expressions. These three modules will be a starter pack of practical knowledge to begin writing your own comics.
INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHY
Walter Scott (born 1985, Kahnawake, QC) is an interdisciplinary artist working across comics, drawing, video, performance and sculpture. Scott is this year’s Stonecroft Artist-in-Residence, 6 January–13 February. His comic series, Wendy, chronicles the continuing misadventures of a young artist in a satirical version of the contemporary art world. Recent exhibitions include Who Isn’t She? A Wendy Retrospective, at Galerie UQO (Gatineau), Slipping on the Missing X, Macaulay Fine Art (Vancouver), and Betazoid in a Fog, Walter’s first museum solo presentation, in 2018, at the Remai Modern in Saskatoon.
2 February Watercolour Painting Techniques with Danielle Folkerts

INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHY
Danielle Folkerts is a contemporary visual artist and art educator living and working in Kingston, Ontario. Her formal education includes a Visual Arts Diploma from Red Deer College, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with Distinction, from the Alberta College of Art + Design, majoring in Painting. She has attended artist residencies and workshops across the globe and is known for her expressive paintings, ocean-inspired textiles, upbeat and comprehensive workshops, and vibrant large-scale murals for Lululemon and more. She’s the face behind The Travelling Artisan – a resource, business, and brand focusing on art, travel and education.
15 March Open Source 3-D print and design with Stefy McKnight
$10 per class, all materials included
Making creative and innovative art has never been so accessible and easy. Using open source materials and programming, this workshop will show participants the basics of 3d printing and design. Exploring the power and accessible nature of open source software, we will produce digital objects that engage with technologically driven art and design. This workshop will not only give participants the skills to develop projects, but also provide a survey of local 3d printers available for use.
INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHY
A white-settler artist-scholar based in Katarokwi/Kingston Ontario Stefy McKnight’s creative practice and research focus in on policy, activism, governance, and surveillance trends in Canada and North America. Her creative work takes several forms, such as installation, performance, site-specific, online and technological curatorial projects, new media and experimental photography. McKnight has exhibited at Gallery Stratford; MalloryTown Landing and Thousand Islands, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre and the Centre for Indigenous Research-Creation.
