Your Own Grad School Open Workshop with Richard Ibghy & Marilou Lemmens

Thursday 7 September 2017
6:30 pm

.

Richard Ibghy and Marilou Lemmens will lead a workshop with participants of Your Own Grad School

Bringing together historical and contemporary positions, the workshop will explore concepts and practices of collaboration and performative research. It will consider whether such practices in visual art, participatory theatre, improvisation, and alternative education might help us to develop ways of working which resist the demands of the neoliberal economy. Rehearsal and improvisation will be used as tools to explore collective and individual struggles, to foster critical and creative thinking, and to learn ways to work together. This experimental workshop will draw inspiration from the techniques of participatory theatre developed in the 1970s by Brazilian theatre director and activist Augusto Boal as well as from methods developed more recently by artists and research groups to cultivate inquisitive attitudes towards artistic production, its means and its ends.

This session is open to all. To participate, request the study text at  aeac@queensu.cawith Y.O.G.S in the subject line.
