Celebrate the enduring appeal of the artistic process in The Bader Gallery with an evening that brings art to life. Each session starts with an introduction to the exhibition Artists at Work by Bader Curator and Researcher of European Art Dr Jacquelyn N. Coutré, followed by three interdisciplinary performed responses to works in the show by invited dancers and poets. A Q&A with refreshments follows.

This event is presented in conjunction with the 2018 Canadian Association of Theatre Research Conference. Space is limited. Register online to secure your spot in one of the sessions.

PERFORMER BIOGRAPHIES

Alyssa Cooper is a Canadian author, poet and spoken word performer currently living in Kingston, Ontario. First published in 2008, her work has been included in various local and international publications, from limited-run hand-bound zines to nationally distributed anthologies, and everything in between. She is also the author of four novels, a short story collection, and two poetry collections. An active spoken word performer, she has performed from Kingston to Toronto, and currently holds an executive position in the Kingston Poetry Collective and the Kingston Youth Poetry Slam planning committee.

Michelle Girouard is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada’s Acting Program. She has worked professionally in Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa, Montreal, Moncton and Halifax. She now calls Kingston, ON, home. Beyond working as an actor, Michelle also enjoys her work as a shamanic practitioner and gentle yoga instructor.

Kay Kenney is originally from Kingston and a graduate of the Professional Contemporary Dance Programme at The School of Dance(Ottawa) in 2012. Since then Kay has collaborated in research and performance with Caroline Barrière, Cathy Kyle-Fenton, Sylvie Desrosiers/Dorsale Danse, Jocelyn Todd/Lawless Dance Co, Mayday Danse, Peggy Baker Dance Projects, Andrea Nann/Dreamwalker Dance Co, and Dark Horse Dance Projects. A proud company member of Ottawa Dance Directive for the past four seasons, collaborating with artists such as Chick Snipper, Andrew Turner, Mélanie Dermers, Harold Rhéaume and artistic director Yvonne Coutts.  Since 2013 Kay has been a company member of Social Growl Dance, under artistic direction of Riley Sims (Toronto).
