Join Bader Curator of European Art Dr Suzanne van de Meerendonk for this conversational tour of the exhibition Studies in Solitude. She will discuss the historic understandings of solitude that informed the artworks on display and considers how those topics may find resonance in the present.
Suzanne van de Meerendonk is the Bader Curator and Researcher of European Art at Agnes. A specialist in Dutch seventeenth-century art and visual culture, her research interests include the role of art and propaganda in state-making processes, the formation of cultural memory and identity, and the history of collecting and provenance. Suzanne received her MA from the University of Amsterdam and her PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Before joining Agnes in November 2020, she was the Kress Interpretive Fellow at the Picker Art Gallery at Colgate University.
