Deep Looking:
Shifting Realities

In-Person at Agnes
12 March 2024
12:15–1 pm

Slow down, observe, relax.

Take time to slow down and deeply observe works in the exhibition Joan Scaglione: Shifting Realities. Guided by Agnes docents, this contemplation practice allows for relaxation and new insights.

At Deep Looking, we aim to facilitate conversations around artworks shaped by participants’ unique perspectives, rather than promoting a singular reading. We ask that participants come with a willingness to listen, share and collaborate.

Joan Scaglione harnesses flows of accumulated drawings and materials into swelling sculptural installations and soaring wall assemblages in this solo exhibition of new work. More subtly, the artist makes rhythmic urgings for ‘feeling out’ radical leaps and disjunctions that might transit across different material worlds, following her practice of radical openness.

The docent program is generously supported by the Lloyd Carr-Harris Foundation.
