“Color Me Badd: Anatomy of an Exhibition”

Julia Dault, Koerner Visitor in the Queen’s BFA Program, will discuss her recent exhibition Color Me Badd, which was presented at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto, in fall 2014. This behind-the-scenes account will offer insight into her painting process and site-specific sculpture. Dault will describe the steps required to create the eighty-foot-long wall piece Time after Time, which served as an index to the entire exhibition. She will touch on the goals of the installation through its material, spatial, and conceptual components. A reception follows the talk and question period.

Julia Dault is a Canadian artist now based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work was recently on view in Elevated: Contemporary Art in the AGO Tower, Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, and was included in the group exhibitions Americana: Selections from the Collection at the Pérez Art Museum Miami and Outside the Lines at the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston. She is represented by Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York; Jessica Bradley Gallery, Toronto; and China Art Objects Galleries, Los Angeles.
