Artists and curators are returning to the former site of the Sir John A. Macdonald statue in City Park next week to reignite a conversation they started nearly a decade ago.
The original Talkin’ Back to Johnny Mac was a performance art series which took place in 2015, performances being set in City Park at the site of the Sir John A. Macdonald statue, aiming to spark discussions around historical monuments and centering colonial narratives.
While the statue was taken down in 2021, the original team has decided to return to the site to spark a new conversation, looking towards the future, with a second iteration of the series.
The exhibition will be running from October 21-25 in City Park, in partnership with the Agnes Etherington Arts Centre. More information is available on the Agnes Etherington Arts Centre website.
