Spend your day off school in the art studio! Children ages 6–12 use our exhibitions as inspiration as they learn artmaking techniques under the themes Expressing Yourself through Portraiture, Art with a Few Secrets and Taking Shape with Light and Shadow.

Inspired by the exhibition, Tracing Self and Other, young artists will explore the different ways artists express themselves while engaging in a variety of portrait projects.
1 November Art with a Few Secrets…

Inspired by the exhibition, Split Between the I and the Gaze, young artists will investigate ways to conceal secret treasures within their art while exploring different types and intensities of looking.
29 November Taking Shape with Light and Shadow
Inspired by the exhibition, Leiden circa 1630: Rembrandt Emerges, this workshop will focus on art’s dark and shadowy side, and will explore key components of Rembrandt’s masterful craftsmanship such as texture and chiaroscuro.
INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHY
Natasha Jabre is a representational painter whose work highlights the strangeness of everyday situations using symbolism and surreal lighting. She received her BFA from Concordia University in Montreal and her MFA from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in North Dartmouth, MA. Her artwork has recently been exhibited in Canada and the United States, as well as internationally in Berlin, Italy, Lebanon and Spain.
