Soundings: An Exhibition in Five Parts will take place at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre and at sites across the campus of Queens University, 5 January through 7 April 2019. Curated by Candice Hopkins (Tlingit) and Dylan Robinson (Stó:lō), the exhibition will feature newly commissioned ‘scores’ by artists including Tania Willard, Tanya Lukin Linklater, Raven Chacon and Crístobal Martinez, Cheryl L’Hirondelle, Olivia Whetung, Peter Morin, and Ogimaa Mikana. At different moments during the exhibition these scores will be activated and realized by musicians, dancers, performers and members of the public, gradually filling the exhibition space with their responses. A speakers’ series, entitled “Against Hungry Listening,” will bring a host of international composers, musicians, historians, artists and scholars to the Agnes over the course of Soundings. The exhibition is accompanied by a specially commissioned book of scores designed by Sébastien Aubin.
